For Gallery Hinterland in Vienna, a small intervention in public space was created together with Swiss artist Nives Widauer. The starting point is the pomegranate: fruit, ornament, garden motif and, in many cultures, a symbol of love, fertility, beauty, wisdom and cultural exchange.
The installation translates this motif into a temporary outdoor space in front of the gallery – a kind of artistic pavement garden. In the street space, an open place emerges for encounters, conversations and performative formats under the open sky. The architecture deliberately holds back: a few elements organise the act of lingering, mark a presence in the urban space and make the artistic idea visible in everyday life.
Pomeglobe transforms a small piece of the city into a place of exchange. Between gallery, street and public life, an in-between space is created that does not close itself off, but invites.
